Diaphragm Accumulators A Diaphragm Accumulator uses compressed gas as a spring cushion to store energy. A diaphragm-type accumulator uses a thin, flexible diaphragm to separate the compressed gas from the hydraulic fluid. This type of accumulator is known as "hydropneumatic." Diaphragm accumulators provide an affordable means of enhancing the performance of a hydraulic system. They are suitable for storing energy under pressure, absorbing hydraulic shocks and dampening pump pulsation and flow fluctuations.
